Calzini Base (Basic 4ply Socks in italiano) :::::: Blogtober 2022 : Day 22

I’ve got some very exciting news today – the Basic 4ply Socks pattern is now available in Italian!

Of course, this might not be so exciting for you if you don’t speak Italian, but I am thrilled that those who do and have been doing their best to translate the pattern using Google Translate or another translation app can now read the pattern in their own language – and I can help even more people to knit socks!

The pattern has been translated by Laura Lucia, an Italian who lives here in the UK (you can find her on Instagram here and Ravelry here).  She’s a keen knitter and has used the Basic 4ply Socks pattern herself, and she originally asked me if I would mind if she translated the pattern so that she could use it to help her Italian friends and family to learn to knit socks too.  I said I didn’t mind at all … but I’d love to be able to share it on the blog and several email conversations about it all later, here we are! Thank you so much, Laura!

Today’s post is short and sweet – but perhaps very useful if you are Italian or know someone who is!

Wow! I don’t speak Italian but it is exciting for those who do. Just another thoughtful thing that you are doing to promote sock knitting.

I speak basic Italian so I could brush up on my vocabulary and try the pattern. Hopefully having such a lovely pattern available might encourage more supplies of sock yarn here, currently I bring my own WYS.

Thank you so much! My mother is born and raised Italian. She has tried so many times to knit socks but was unable to follow a pattern. Having it in English and Italian I can now help her! We will do a sick at the same time! She is 91!!!
