Blogtober 2021 : Day 14

A red and orange-petalled French marigold amongst green leaves

Some days work out differently to what you’d expect.

After an afternoon spent in the garden, I was planning to tell you about that today but not so small daughter asked on the way home from school if we could sit and watch the film How to Train Your Dragon together.

At a time when she’s growing up faster than I like to acknowledge, some days it’s important to sit with your girl and watch a film about a dragon called Toothless because one day she’ll be too busy and too grown up to want to do that.

I’ll see you tomorrow xx

You’re so right. In some ways our children need us even more as they go through their teenage years and it has to be at their request. I was always grateful I could work part-time and be there when they got home.

That’s a favourite film at our house–even with my 20-year-old son–and yes, those moments are too important to miss.

Quite right. When your children need you, even if it’s just to watch a film with them, everything else has to go on hold. My children used to love that film. Seems like a lifetime ago – oh, wait, it WAS a lifetime ago! xx

Good call! My not-so-small daughter decided back in the summer that she wanted to watch all the Marvel movies, so that has been “our” thing for the last three or four months. We finally made it to the end, including spin off series on Disney Plus, and have had so much fun with it, finding connections and disentangling confusing plots together.

Oh well done you! I’ve been doing the same with not so small daughter too, although we haven’t got through them all yet. She’s seen them all but I said I’d watch them with her – I’ve enjoyed most of them but I think we’ve started one of the Avengers films about 3 times and I just can’t get into it (Age of Ultron). I loved Guardians of the Galaxy and the Thor films, and we watched Loki on Disney Plus too .. that was good, wasn’t it? 🙂 xx
