Blogtober 2023 : Day 27

Day 27!  Blogtober is heading to a close, only 4 more days after this one – I don’t know whether we should be feeling sad about it all or celebrating that the daily ramblings are nearly over! 🤣

Today’s post is just a short one to tell you that the Hope Socks pattern is going live today and you’ll find that blog post as an extra one here: HOPE SOCKS

It’s always a peculiar moment for me just as I push the button on a launch; I’ve spent so much time knitting the socks, writing the pattern, worrying that I’ve made spectacular mistakes (thank goodness for tech editing and proof-reading friends – and you might still find something but they’ll be mistakes entirely of my own doing 🙂 ), writing up the blog post, the project page for Ravelry, uploading files – and then when the moment comes to publish it all, I find myself hesitating.  I can imagine that it’s exactly the same feeling that a skydiver has before they themselves out of an aeroplane – the adrenaline has carried them as far as the doorway, but that moment of pause before the leap into the unknown …

And it is unknown, isn’t it?  I’m so grateful for all the comments you’ve left me both here and on social media as I know that you will at least read my blog posts, but every creative, whether we’ve written the pattern or knitted the socks (especially as a gift), has that moment of waiting to see how our efforts will be received.

I don’t think it gets any easier with time, and if it did then perhaps it would mean that we didn’t care as much about what we were creating, but I do know that every second that I wait to click on “publish” draws out the uncertainty and it’s time to launch this pattern into the world to do what it will.

“PUBLISH”
