Super Socks on sale!

I’ve had an email from Amazon with some exciting news if you’re in the UK and Super Socks is on your Christmas list – it’s going to be featured in their Black Friday sale!

I only have the basic details about the promotion – it’s next Friday 25 November from about 7pm, although you may see a countdown on the Super Socks page before that.  There are only a limited number of books and the sale will be on for 4 hours from when the sale time starts.  The sale is for the paperback version rather than the Kindle version of the book.

I’m afraid I can’t tell you what the discount will be or how many books will be on offer – Amazon make all those decisions themselves and keep them close to their digital chest – but whatever it is, it will leave more money to spend on yarn – and that’s got to be a good thing, right? 😀

You can see Super Socks on the Amazon UK page here.  The links to Super Socks in other countries and at other online stores are here.  Thank you to everyone who’s chosen to add Super Socks to their knitting library! xx

    I will set an alarm!
First, a question, I have never knit any socks, and came home from a mitten wool shopping expedition with a ball of Kaffe Fassett sock wool instead! It says 6 ply/3-4mm needles. Your basic pattern is for 4 ply and 2.5 mm needles, I think. What do I need to do to convert or should I just not bother to start on the "wrong" wool? It's so pretty! Please advise 🙂

Hi Gill, don't worry, you can still knit socks with the 6ply and use the Sockalong tutorials. If it's a Kaffe Fassett yarn you don't want to waste it! 🙂 Firstly, have a look in the free patterns tab at the top of the page for the 6ply boot socks pattern and that's the one that you'll base your sock on. You can use the Sockalong tutorials which you'll find either by clicking on the yellow Join the Sockalong picture on the top right or the Join the Sockalong tab at the top, although you will need to take into account the fact that you'll have less stitches on your needles. I knit 6ply yarn with 3mm needles so there's not a great deal of difference but I think you'll find that if you use 2.5mm needles the fabric will be a bit stiff. I hope that helps! xx

Oh excellent. Planning on a few for friends and think one will need to find a home in my bag too. My dad has just placed an order for a pair, so have spent an hour this afternoon deciding which wool to order. Ended up with three balls rather than just one! It was too hard to choose! Have a lovely weekend x

I think that choosing the yarn is as much fun as knitting the socks themselves. Your extra two balls won't be wasted, and you've got more socks to look forward to once you've knitted your Dad's pair – he's going to love them! xx
