Blogtober 2022 : Day 16

Sunday has arrived!  Traditionally a day of rest but I tend to think of Saturday as my day off and Sunday is all about the laundry, menu planning, picking things up that shouldn’t be where they are and generally trying to give myself a head start for the week.

Now, at 3pm, it’s time for a sit down and a brew.

Two hardback books on a wooden coffee table next to a brightly coloured plate with a piece of cake on it, and an orange mug of tea. In the background is a fireplace with a burning fire.

I made cake yesterday (this is white chocolate and blueberry) and I definitely deserve to eat this after buzzing about all morning!

The books are a new one from Milly Johnson called Together, Again* which my friend Susan passed on to me as I haven’t read it (I didn’t even know it was out!), and a book of poems by Brian Bilston called Days Like These* which is a book of 366 poems – one for every day of the year (including the leap year day!).  If you’re on Instagram or Twitter, you might have seen his daily poems and they often make me laugh so I decided to buy his new book.

I’ve not really had time to sit down and have a good look at them so I thought I would give myself some space this afternoon to do that.  There might even be some knitting later!  I’m not sure whether to start the books now or perhaps save them for next year’s Winter Haven KAL … shall we do that again next year?  You might be getting bored of the same old January thing now!  Anyway, you can let me know what you think 🙂

Ooh, before I go … thank you so much to everyone who has bought patterns after yesterday’s post on the Carousel Socks, I really appreciate your support and I do hope you enjoy knitting your socks! xx

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, I’ll see you tomorrow!

Yes please to the Winter Haven KAL, I love being allowed to have that special space to create!! Have seen a few of those poems that people have posted on FB, clever and amusing.
I cleaned my kitchen, defrosted the freezer & sorted all the recycling bins so I’m feeling smugly ‘decluttered’ today 😂

Ah, thank you! Milly Johnson has written about 20 books now, they were always quite humorous but the last two have taken on a more serious tone; the earlier ones are good for a quick fun read, certainly! I only discovered Brian Bilson a couple of months ago through Instagram, I think his poems are really clever 🙂 xx

Hooray! The Winter Haven KAL will be an excellent time to start a pair of socks – time for yourself after Christmas and the New Year and just when you’ll want to wear woolly socks too 🙂 xx

I would love to do the Winter KAL so hoping you do one this coming year. I learned loads last year even though my own version came out rather uniquely different to most others I saw online. Incidentally they are currently still my favourite socks to date.
