Impressive Socks
Why knit the Impressive Socks?
The Impressive Socks pattern is another of my bestselling patterns – straightforward to knit but impressive to look at! The side panels are created with twisted stitches and because they are in an easily repeatable pattern, this makes this one perfect for learning a new technique and building confidence.
The pattern is based on the Basic 4ply Socks pattern so if you’re familiar with that, you won’t have to learn anything new about the construction. The mosaic section has both charted and written instructions and because the pattern section is only short and then repeated, it makes it easy for you to try out the charts if you’ve never used them before.
Pattern features
You can see how the pattern repeats in this photo, and even though I say so myself, that’s a lovely neat line down the gusset where the knitted section blends into the decreases.
If you’re familiar with the Basic 4ply Socks pattern, you’ll recognise the heel flap and gusset-type heel knitted but instead of using heel stitch, the two colours are knitted alternately – it looks very effective and still creates a comfy, cushioned heel!
Which yarn should I use?
These socks are knitted in West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in shade Blackcurrant Bomb.
