Monthly Musing – November 2025 – Tuning in

We’ve been to a wedding today.

There’s nothing like a wedding for bringing out all the emotions up until the moment that the couple stand in front of each other to say their vows, but there’s also nothing like a wedding for bring the best energy into the room at the moment they do.  The love that the couple have for each other and the love that the guests have for the couple is palpable, and you can’t help but feel better in that kind of energy.

We’ve been to weddings of couples of all ages and some of the nicest weddings have been between people who met each other later in life, as this one was today.  It was also a joy to go with our older daughters rather than small children who weren’t too impressed by having to wear smart clothes or sit through services – and we’ve done that too!  I much prefer the calm energy of our grown up girls to wrestling with a toddler who would rather be anywhere else!

I’ve been reading quite a lot about energy recently and how it affects us and others.  We’ve all been in a room where you could cut the atmosphere with a knife, and we’ve all been in the company of people who have immediately lifted our spirits and made us feel better.  What I didn’t realise until relatively recently is that you have control over how you experience that energy, and with Christmas and other gatherings coming up over the next few weeks, that feels like something that’s quite important to know!

The latest thing that I’ve been reading talks about us all being like tuning forks resonating with someone else’s “sound” and how our energies match to make the same “sound”.  That makes sense if you think about how someone else’s bad mood might make you feel grumpy even if you weren’t feeling that way before, which is often how we experience it.  Once you recognise that then you’re able to do something about it, but I know that’s often easier said than done.  Sometimes, it can be as simple as moving away from the grumpy person but sometimes the energy is harder to shift and takes a bit more work.

There were so many energies in the room where the wedding took place, but they were all joyful and we came home feeling energised and happy that we’d been able to be part of the celebrations.  These are the best sorts of energies to be around, and wouldn’t we all love to spend all our time in that space?  It’s definitely something to think about with Christmas just around the corner and I’ll be making more of an effort to watch my own energy so that I don’t affect other members of the family in the wrong way … I’m writing the Christmas dinner cooking plan for a stress-free meal as you read this! 🙂
