Blitzen Socks

£0.00

Knit yourself a cosy pair of paperchain cable socks with this pattern designed especially for West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply Robin yarn!

This pattern was designed especially for the 2019 West Yorkshire Spinners Christmas yarn, Robin.  You can read the blog post about this pattern and the yarn here:  Socks and More Socks

Choosing the right pattern for this yarn took some thought.  I tend to think of the Country Birds yarns as classic yarns and I wanted something that reflected that, and also that would be suitable for anybody to wear all year round.  After all, we see the robins in the garden all year round so why not wear the socks all year round too?

I knew very quickly that I wanted to choose a cable pattern – but which one?  There are so many variations to choose from, but as soon as I spotted this one, I knew I had to use it, especially as it was a Christmas pattern – cables that look like paperchains!

The heel flap is in Ribbed Heel Stitch which makes it a little bit stretchier for those with wider feet, or even just for those who feel that a heel flap is usually a bit tighter than they’d like to wear.  As always, the pattern is based on my Basic 4ply Socks pattern so if you’re new to socks or need a refresher, you can use the Sockalong tutorials to help you.
