Saturday morning

Not so small daughter heads out to Tanzania next week for her Mount Kilimanjaro climb. She’s very excited, I am … well, I’m excited for her but also a bit nervous as my girl heads out on another adventure that involves hours on a plane and high altitude.
We’ve made the trips to the travel clinic, she’s got malaria tablets and altitude sickness medication. We’ve printed off visas and insurance documents, we’ve washed clothes and equipment that have been stored since last year’s trip to Nepal, and we’ve been over and over the kit list she’s been given to make sure we’ve got everything she needs. She’s got more than enough pairs of hand knitted socks and it makes me happy to think that something I’ve made will keep her feet warm and cosy whilst she’s walking. We’ve packed everything into the two rucksacks she’s allowed to take, weighed them and she’s not over the limit.
I think she’s ready to go.
Astrid has packed herself. We’ve had to tell her she’s staying here.

Wish not so small daughter a good trip. Sounds very exciting
Best wishes to Not so small daughter for a fabulous trip and sending you hugs as it’s never easy when our chicks are away. As a parent we do a great job bringing them up to be independent but it’s not easy for us when they exercise that independence.
Wishing not so small Daughter a safe and pleasant trip. Hoping she has fun! 😊
Wishing your not so small daughter a safe and wonderful trip.
Our dogs used to pack themselves into our suitcases the minute they appeared – the cats never did that!

Have a great climb. Be careful, and Mom, she’ll be fine.

I hope your daughter has a brilliant time away and brings lots of photos back!
No good telling you not to worry, it’s part of the job description, but she’ll be back in no time, and she will always have part of you with her, as will you.
Did you know that some of our children’s cells live in us all our lives? I read it the other day and find it comforting when they’re out doing something I don’t want to know about until they get home!!! ( like climbing steep mountains in the Lake District!) Keep busy. 😊
