What can you see in the textured pattern around the leg of these cosy DK (8ply) socks?
Are they mountains and valleys? Are they waves in the sea? Are they life’s ups and downs? They are whatever you want them to be, and being well-travelled doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve headed into the back of beyond with your rucksack. There’s more than one way to travel through life.
The socks are quick to knit and the pattern is easy to memorise. They have a heel flap and gusset; the Ribbed Heel flap is created with slip stitches to give a comfortable, cushioned heel. The pattern is written for four sizes from 8 – 9½ inches (20-24cm) foot circumference.

A note about yarn meterage – the socks pictured are knitted on 44sts and are a UK size 6. I needed more than one ball of 4ply to make the socks (I ran out just before the end of the second sock using one colour, hence the contrast toes), and I just about got one pair out of the DK yarn. Unless you are making the smallest size for a small shoe size, I would recommend two balls of yarn (or certainly one ball plus an amount for contrasts) for these socks.
