Knitted in cosy DK (8ply) yarn, the Sloping Hills socks are a quick knit and have the addition of purl stitches to create texture and interest in the pattern.  The purl “slopes” are easy to follow in both written and charted instructions, and the pattern is repeated on the front and the back of the socks.

They have a heel flap and gusset; the heel flap is created with slip stitches to give a comfortable, cushioned heel.  The pattern is written for four sizes from 8 – 9½ inches (20-24cm) foot circumference.

You can read more about the pattern in this blog post:  Sloping Hills Socks

Useful to know

Size

To fit ball of foot circumference 8 [8½:9:9½] inches ; 20 [22:23:24] cm

Yarn
1 x 100g skein Baa Baa Brighouse Baa Baa Brew DK in Strangstry

A note about yarn meterage – the socks pictured are knitted on 44sts and are a UK size 5.  I only just got one pair out of the DK yarn.  Unless you are making the smallest size for a small shoe size, I would recommend two skeins of yarn (or certainly one skein plus an amount for contrasts) for these socks.
