There’s a saying that you should give your children roots and wings – and my girls have certainly found their wings, especially if they belong to an aeroplane as they both love to travel!
These fun mosaic socks were designed with not so small daughter’s trip to Nepal in July 2024 in mind – a blend of fun, trekking and working on a social project with the organisation World Challenge. It’s going to be a life-changing trip, and no doubt with one or two surprises – just like these socks! The monkey face appeared quite by surprise during the design process, but is perfect to represent the monkeys that live in Kathmandu.
The Monkey Puzzle Socks are constructed as top down socks with a heel flap and gusset. The heel is knitted in alternating colours carried across the heel flap which creates a durable, cushioned heel. The mosaic pattern is worked with slip stitches and finished with duplicate stitch.
You can read the blog post for the story behind these socks here.
