WYS Christmas yarns giveaway result

Well, what can I say?!

Thank you so much to everyone who left a comment to take part in the giveaway draw for the WYS yarn and pattern bundle, it’s been amazing to read them all, and thank you for sharing your Christmas memories with me as well!  It’s definitely going to be a different kind of Christmas (or holiday, if you don’t celebrate Christmas) celebration this year, I think, but we will all make new memories for those “Do you remember Christmas 2020?” conversations!

I’m sorry if you weren’t able to leave a comment – I don’t know why Blogger is difficult with them sometimes.  They keep on updating the system so hopefully that kind of thing will become a glitch of the past with every new update.

So, on to the part that you’ve been waiting for!  Before I tell you the winner, though, let me remind you of the generous prize that West Yorkshire Spinners have given me to give to you.

A flatlay of five balls of yarn in the WYS Christmas 2020 colours, a pattern book in the centre and a single pattern to the right. There is also a small coloured paper chain at the bottom of the picturewidth=”1024″ height=”1024″

There’s a ball of each of the 2020 Christmas yarns, so that’s Holly Berry, Candy Cane, sparkly Fairy Lights, Robin and the brand new yarn for this year, the sparkly Silent Night.  There’s also a copy of the Comet pattern designed for Silent Night, and the new pattern book with seven brand new sock patterns.  Phew, that’ll keep you going for a while!

I only have one prize to give away and I’m sorry that I don’t have one for you all – although you can download the earlier sock patterns for the Christmas yarns for free from the WYS website along with Robin (the pattern is now renamed Blitzen) and Comet – so at least you can have something!

As always, I’ve used the trusty Random.org widget to choose a winner in the fairest possible way.  I count all the comments, put them into the widget and then count up from the first comment until I find the winning number.

Thatwoman, it’s you!   Congratulations!  And you are quite right, nothing says “I love you!” like hand knit socks!  If you can get in touch with me, I can get your parcel off to you and you can start knitting!

Thanks again to everyone who joined in, it’s lovely to know that you love the Christmas colours as much as I do!

It love your sock patterns as they really fit, however I have only knitted the wellie version in everything from 100% dk kid mohair to light aran and they are fantastic but plain. Do you have any plans to design interesting patterns for the thicker socks?

Ooh now, that's a good idea! I don't have anything in mind at the moment but I'll add it to my list (although I do need to tell you that it's a rather long list! 🤣) xx

Truly a great giveaway. I didn’t know about this book when I bought my Silent Night yarn but now I know, I’ll track it down. Thank you so much for introducing me to both sock knitting and WYS yarns.

    Congratulations Thatwoman!

I've not been well so missed this giveaway. However, yesterday I ordered 'Silent night' and a couple of others from wool warehouse (good offer on at the minute). That silent night is a gorgeous mix of blues, it's perfect. Now you & wys just need to do purples in those darker tones and I'll be made up. Did forget to pick up the pattern book so that's my next job, literally next after posting this! Breaking my 'one WIP at a time' rule after reading a recent post you wrote Christine as it made so much sense. Gonna try make some 8ply and 6ply socks from my Winwick Mum books as Christmas gifts though they probably end up as next Christmas gifts lol. You can buy try!! I need a second ball of silent night as I need those knee length socks (I get cold feet and legs so I can see me making multiple pairs).
    Happy knitting/ making
