Winwick Mum Sockalong 5th birthday
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Sockalong
Happy birthday to you!
Wow wow WOW! It’s five years since the Winwick Mum Sockalong started and I couldn’t be happier to know that the tutorials and the pattern are still so useful to people who are just starting out on their sock knitting adventures.
When you create something like the Sockalong, then of course you hope that it will be more than a short firework fizzle in the endless sky of the internet universe, but I can honestly tell you that apart from wanting to make sure that I tried to make it as easy as possible for someone to knit a pair of socks, there was never any grand plan – certainly never any 5 year plan! – and it has been wonderful to see how everything has evolved.
If you’re new to the blog, you might wonder what has evolved in those five years … Well, in the same year as the tutorials were written and published on the blog (always with the intention of them being freely available on the blog for anyone who wanted to use them), I turned them into paperback form as Super Socks for those who couldn’t or didn’t want to be online all the time, and also e-book form for those who prefer that format. I started the Winwick Mum Sockalong Facebook group so that people could ask questions in real time and that’s been amazing – there are thousands of people from all over the world in this group and thanks to the magic of time zones and people’s generosity in helping others to learn, this really is a group that works in real time – whatever the time! There’s also the Winwick Mum Knit n Natter group on Facebook which came about as those who were knitting socks also wanted to chat, to share other project pictures and to just connect with other people. Both groups have been quite a lifeline during our recent lockdown situation, and it’s been brilliant to see how many people have decided that now is the right time for them to be learning to knit socks.
What else? Well, I’ve won a few awards now (you can see them down the left hand side bar – I’m very proud of them!), I’ve been delighted to be invited to write articles and design socks for magazines, and best of all – I’ve got my very own Winwick Mum yarn designed in conjunction with West Yorkshire Spinners. And that’s not to mention all the people I’ve met and the friends I’ve made along the way – we never know when we drop a stone into the pond where the ripples are going to spread, do we?
It still blows me away to think about everything that has happened over the last five years. I have been very blessed, and I never forget that how much of that is down to you – thank you for knitting the socks, for sharing the tutorials with others who want to learn, for giving your time to help others once you have learnt yourself, for buying my books and my yarn … thank you! xx
So what happens now? Well, the Sockalong tutorials are staying on the blog for free – I have always said that if someone has the money to buy the yarn or buy the book then I would much rather than they bought the yarn and got started – so there’s no change there. Super Socks is still available for anybody who wants to buy a paperback or ebook version. West Yorkshire Spinners are still producing Winwick Mum yarn which is available from WYS stockists worldwide. There may be some more videos coming, but because I move at a snail’s pace where videos are concerned, we’ll leave it as that for now 🙂
Another thing that hasn’t changed is the Winwick Mum Sockalong birthday giveaway. Every year, I get to do this and every year I think how fortunate I am to be able to even think about it. As usual there are two prizes:
There’s a signed copy of Super Socks, a ball of Winwick Mum yarn (in either Hidden Gem or Seascape), pack of mini bars of salted caramel chocolate (something sweet to nibble on always helps those brain cells when you’re learning something new!), a set of very cute stitch markers and a Winwick Mum Sockalong badge (which I’ve forgotten to photograph but you can see below).
When I first started knitting socks, I used scraps of yarn to make my own stitch markers but there is something nice about having a marker that’s fun or feels personal to you in some way when you’re knitting. I ordered these stitch markers from Diana Sian Crafts because I thought they would be a fun way to keep track of your rounds …
and of course they’re not just for socks – you might find you wanted to use them for other projects too!
And this is the Winwick Mum Sockalong badge which goes with both prizes – ideal for project bags and also for wearing to festivals (when we can go to them again) so that you can spot other Sockalongers.
For the last four years, I’ve been asking you to tell me how many pairs of Sockalong socks you knitted since the last Sockalong birthday. I’ll never know how many pairs of socks have actually been knitted using the tutorials but it’s nice to get at least some idea, so this year will be continuing the tradition. So far, our running total stands at 12,000 pairs – how many more have been knitted this year?! It’s not a competition with previous years, it’s just a bit of fun (and might also tell me how close we are to really taking over the world with hand-knit socks 🙂 )
To enter the giveaway, please comment how many pairs of basic Sockalong socks (not other patterns, please) you have knitted since May 2019. Don’t worry if you’re still making you first pair or are about to cast on, just write that information and your comment will count too. Because there’s a choice of yarn, don’t forget to tell me which one you would like!
Entries to the giveaway will close at 8pm BST on Friday 8 May 2020 and I will let you know the winners as soon as possible after that time (it may get to Saturday but I won’t have forgotten! 🙂 ). I am happy to post the prizes anywhere in the world so don’t feel that you can’t be part of this because you don’t live in the UK. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Google or blog account to leave a comment, you can leave it as “anonymous” but don’t forget to put your name in the comment so that when I post the winners I’ll be able to identify you so that you can get in touch for your prize (and please do come back to check if you’re a winner)! Oh, and also don’t worry that your comment doesn’t show straight away – the comments are set for me to check them before they upload to the blog to make sure that no spam gets through so they are all safely stored in my blog messages until I’ve seen them. I’ll make sure they’re all uploaded on time!
Happy birthday Sockalong, here’s to many more years of socking all over the world!
Happy birthday! I've just finished my 4th pair this year (I might even keep this pair for myself). I would love to have some seascape please. Amanda N.
I have made 8 pairs and would like seascape please.I gave my copy of the book away to help someone learn to do socks and she's now well hooked too! Margaret, Durham
I'm currently on my fourth pair, thanks to you, "Mum", and I love the Seascape colourway. Thanks for sharing the skills and the joy throughout the world!
I am about to get started on your socks long. We recently retired and moved back to Hampshire. I have eight grandchildren under 10yrs so all my knitting has focused on stuff for them. I lock your cream cable sock pattern high I have downloaded to knit. Thanks and Happy Zbirthday!!!
I've made 2 pairs of socks since last may! Finished a pair for my boyfriend (they're his favourites now!) and a matching pair for the baby due any day.
Just cast on a 3rd pair (another tiny human pair) to match my sparkly socks.
I've been eyeing up the Hidden Gem yarn for a while because I need more socks in my life!
Happy Birthday to your most excellent tutorial, and thank you for creating a community we all love so much!
Congratulations on 5 years! Thank you for a wonderful blog. I've knitted socks but still to cast on a pair of Sockalong Socks – will be my next pair! I'd live the Seascape if I was fortunate enough to win! Here's to another great year of socking!!
Another year another 14 pairs! Thank you for starting this group
I've made 3 pairs (only started in January) and I hope there will be many more to come
Happy Birthday to the Sockalong. Christine Perry you have given me such a boost – Ive made 10 pairs for myself, two pairs each for my lovely parents and am on pair number two for my husband
I’ve completed my first sock, using wys yarn, cast on it’s twin, and started a second pair of 8ply ones, in a charity yarn with proceeds going to the NHS.
Love your basic pattern, it’s so easy to follow x
Joanne Vernon
On pair number 4 … not a lot but wouldn’t be any without your patterns, books and wonderful FB groups. And the lovely Janice too ❤️
I've just finished my very first pair of socks, so chuffed! The seascape yarn looks gorgeous x
1st sock complete with 2nd on the go, your sock pattern was the first project I tried after learning to knit in October 2019 🙂 Thank you m, Claire Dent
Hello Christine! I've been following you for quite a while, but a combination of lack of confidence and not liking using dpn's has held me back from starting! But I'm glad to say that before lockdown, some short circular needles arrived in the post. I was just thinking about spending my birthday money on your first book and some yarn, and lo and behold, you posted about the giveaway!
If I am fortunate enough to win one of your giveaways (turquoise yarn preferred!), I'll give my birthday money to my local food bank instead. I've promised to send the first pair of socks to my daughter, who lives in NZ, to keep her tootsies warm now they're heading into winter.
I have made 14 pairs so far and have 2 more on the needles, I made all the adults in my family a pair last Christmas. Thank you for inspiring me xxx
Congratulations on a fabulous milestone! Your sock along was what helped me go from being clueless about sock knitting to now having two gorgeous finished pairs!
I only cast on my first ever pair in January and then my second pair flew off the needles in only a week.
Here's to the next five years!
I have made 30 pairs of socks using the basic sock pattern.
Hi, what a lovely thing to do. I have knitted 9 pairs of socks since May last year – all for presents. If I should be so fortunate to be picked I would love seascape yarn please. My name is Anne McKnight. x
I’ve just cast on for my very first pair of sock along socks in that Hidden Gem colourway, so I’d like to win the seascape one (you won’t believe how long I stood debating with myself over which of those two colours to go for when I bought the yarn – the seascape is very much in one of my favourite colours, so I eventually decided to go with the hidden gem, todo something a bit different for a change).
Hi Christine and happy 5th birthday sock-a-long. My name is Rhonda Morris, I live in Scotland UK, and I am currently knitting my very first pair of socks. Love the Sock-A-Long tutorials and enjoying making my first sock. I read the instructions, ordered what I needed, however, ordered a 40 cm circular needle because 30 cm were out of stock everywhere. This was before I read the bottom of the page where you clearly state that we should not be tempted to buy a 40 cm… So, ordered a 25 cm circular needle, which arrived yesterday, after trying and trying and trying to come to grips with the DPNs – I can manage casting onto two DPNs but trying to knit was too fiddly for me. The 25 cm circular is fab – I am nearly to the heel part and excited about seeing the socks when completed. If I am the winner of your very generous prize I would love the turquoise colour yarn – my favourite colours! Thanks very much for starting and keeping the Sock-A-Long going.
2 and 1/2 a pair.
Until I fiund you never thought I'd knit socjs again. Lovely experirnce xx
3 pairs in the past year. Seascape looks great Nicky S
I have 3/4 of a sock, some enforced time off work will hopefully mean I can get my first pair finished. What a lovely prize.
I've only recently discovered your wonderful site, (via Virtual Wonderwool Wales event). I had bought sock yarn/dpns some time ago to embark on sock knitting but was slightly nervous about interpreting patterns etc., but your instructions and photos make it so clear – thank you! I've cast on and started my first sock. I like the Seascape yarn. Vicky J.
Happy birthday! I have knitted 4 pairs of socks all basic pattern cuff down. I give my socks away as presents usually at Christmas.
Just finished my very first pair and casted on my second. Blue please xx
I’ve made 7 pairs of the sockalong pattern socks since I discovered it in December 2019. Six pairs in 4ply and one pair in 6ply. I was new to sock knitting (having tried many times) and now I love it 🙂
Thank you 🙂
I love your pattern, since stumbling on it on FB I've made 1 and a half pairs of Winwick Mum's socks. Love the pattern. Kathy Daley New Zealand
I only started knitting my first ever pair of socks back in November 2019!
I'd say I'm at 45% of a pair of socks at present, but I also have the start of another pair on the needles too!
Funnily enough, I was aware of Winwick Mum for a good while before I even started on my sock knitting adventures, happy 5th birthday.
If I'm lucky enough to win, I'd love the purple yarn please 🙂
Hello thank you very much for your sock patterns, i have made seven so far in between other projects, i am not fussy on the colour but i love those LLama stitch markers, take care xspecially the lacy ones, they are my favourite,
Happy Birthday sockalong! I’m on my fourth pair ever, which is also my fourth since last year! My third was in Seascape so if I win I’d pick Hidden Gem.
Hi Christine, I've knitted four pairs of Sockalong socks since last May…a big thank you for teaching me how to do it with your easy to follow patterns, book & videos, made learning a whole lot easier & more fun!If I am lucky enough to win please may I have Seascape yarn. Happy Sockalong Birthday. Marie x
Happy 5th Birthday Sockalong! May there be many more! Slow year for me this year, I have only managed another three pairs. Alison x
I've made three basic pairs of socks this year, others also but different styles. Either colour would be fabulous, thank you.
So far I have knitted 10 pairs of socks with your patterns. Recently I discovered that our local yarnshop has wool by the West Yorkshire spinners. Looking forward to knitting with the Winwick Mum's yarn. I would love to win the Seascape. Following you for 5 years now ( it's all Lucies fault!, haha) and no intention of stopping with that.
Congratulations, Christine!
Stay safe, stay home, stay kind, keep knitting.
Lots of love from Groningen in the Netherlands

I'm on about 20! So many friends and family have them now…. I have gone from the basic sock pattern to others … even the Robin Christmas ones with cabeling! (Although my labeling needs more work lol…) We all have very happy feet!!!!
Hi Christine
Very Happy 5th Birthday sock-a-long! I absolutely love your patterns and they have been an immense help to me learning to knit socks.
I've only made about 4 pairs since last May, but I've really enjoyed them. It's about time I started another! If I was lucky enough to win, I would choose the seascape colourway
Kirsten xx
I think its about 20 pairs made. Hidden gem please
Thanks for this , christine!
I think I have knit about 8 pairs of ur basic sock pattern,,, and one lace pattern,,,
Thank you so much,,,
I have never knitted socks in my life but have just bought two balls to knit. There is not much choice here in Oz where I shop. I would love to win a prize and will use your tutorial to help me as I haven't used 4 needles before. I do a lot of other knitting though and have 3 projects on the go, with more wool in the post.
Hi, Happy birthday! I am just about to knit my first pair of socks using the Winwick pattern online. I am currently in isolation as I tested positive for Covid 19 (I’m a Paramedic). If I were to win, I would love the aqua/blue wool as I could wear, and show off my socks at work! Regards Juliet Hawkins
One. I made my first pair in April and am now exploring your other wonderful patterns. I love both yarns, maybe Seascape is my favourite, but only just! 🙂
Your world of socks is an adventure. I'm still only a beginner and have experimented with the different methods you have shown. I've become expert at starting again and the West Yorkshire yarn is very forgiving. I'm one sock down but have to finish the second which somehow looks a different size. I like both colours but if I had to choose I'd opt for Hidden Gem. Christine, a very Happy Sockalong Birthday to you and thank you for sharing your skills. Ruth
Hi Christine
Happy fifth birthday! I am now attempting my first pair of your basic socks, with WYS yarn! These have been on my bucket list of projects for a while now and I can now get started. If I am lucky enough to win I would prefer the Seascape colour way, but either would be brilliant. Thank you for this giveaway.
Sharon Ludkin
Ive just had to count the socks in my drawer – ive knitted 11 pairs since discovering the sockalong about a year and a half ago! Number 12 on the needles! Thanks for the fab pattern and all of the support on the blog and Facebook pages! Sally Cowling
Hi just staring basic sock. Have made one other pair in the cable pattern. Love the tutorials and noth facebook sites xx thank you Christine xx
Thank you for helping me overcome my fear of tackling socks. I started my 1st pair in February 2020 and have now completed 4 pairs, with the 5th cast on, partly done. I'd love the turquoise woll should I be a lucky winner, and I'd use it to try out one of you Lacey patterns.
I have knitted four pairs all in your WYS yarn. Xxx
happy birthday thanks for all your great work
Happy Birthday. I’ve made 3 pairs of the basic sock pattern in the last 12 months. Both colourways are lovely but I’d like the hidden gems if I was lucky enough to win.
Happy 5th Birthday, I love knitting your sock patterns, I made ten pairs last year.
Congratulations – I am just about to cast on my first basic sockalong. Thanks for all the support and encouragement. xx
9 pairs done since last May. My go to pattern. Rachel W
Love your blog! I have only knit 1 pair of socks but am ready to cast on next pair (trying to finish other knitting projects). Seascape color way looks like the ocean which is my favorite colorway.
Happy 5th birthday! I love your basic sock pattern and I have knitted 8 pairs.
If I was lucky enough to win, I'd love Seascape please.
Thank you.
I have knitted 6pairs and I love seascape. Happy Birthday xx
I've made twelve pairs of basic sockalong socks since this time last year. Either of the yarns would be lovely.xx
Congratulations on another birthday, and on the well deserved awards. Your clear and detailed instructions have introduced me to a whole new knitting world – 6 pairs this year, and a friend introduced to our "club" who is now addicted and had clocked up dozens! I'll send the link to get to claim her total.
12 pairs completed in the last year – that I can remember! There may be some I’ve forgotten about as I gave them away. Almost finished another pair. I like both colours of wool as I haven’t used either of these but have used the other colours.
Happy birthday I have completed 22 pairs and thoroughly enjoyed them thank you xx
my seascape yarn arrived today! this is my first sockalong sock, just going to cast on, hidden gem
amanda from ireland
Happy Birthday Winwick Sockslong.
I found you last October and have now knitted 7 pairs of socks and am on my eighth, and have several balls of yarn in waiting too.
I like either colour of yarn but at a push would choose Sea Gem.
Thanks for the inspiration and all the help along the way.
Nicola, Gloucestershire UK
Happy Biryhday!I've just started my first pair using the circular needle! I'd go for seascape yarn if I am the lucky winer
I've just discovered this blog during our quarantine and I have made 3 pairs of Sockalong socks over the last few weeks. They have been a joy to knit during this time! I would like either color of yarn, surprise me! Thank you for such a great pattern!
Since May 2019 I have made 1.5 pairs of your basic sockalong socks! One pair as a present for a friend and now one sock done of the next pair. I have made several pairs before but rediscovered sock knitting during lockdown. Your instructions are wonderful!
I am still using scraps of yarn so would love to win the prize with the alpaca stitch markers!
Naomi
I looove my love for knitting Winwick Mum Socks and it would be great to infect someone else (especially at this time of lockdown!) by gifting them this wonderful prize ! Hidden Gem would be perfect ! Alas I think I’ve only knitted 3 pairs since May 2019. Sue Dallimore
I haven’t made any of your socks yet, I ordered your book online, it should be here any day. I can’t wait to try creating your socks!
Two pairs knotted during lockdown and one pair a few months ago so 3 in total. Purple wool please. Fiona Jennifer
Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Congratulations!
I have knit one pair of your socks (after failing to get perfect sizing with other patterns) and I LOVE THEM! They fit really well and following your pattern has helped me understand more about where I might have gone wrong in the past…
Should I be lucky enough to win, I would love the blue yarn but would be over the moon with either. Just having the pattern book as well as the yarn would make a relaxing knit for when my baby arrives in a few weeks time! The perfect self care project!!
Sending lots of love to you!
Happy 5 th birthday. Since last may I have knit 17 pairs of regular sock a long socks and a few pairs of short ones to use up left over yarn
Five pairs of basic socks this year!, along with several pattered variants. I love seascape! Thanks for everything xx
It was your sock a long that got me remaking socks again this year and I am just finishing my 3rd basic pair but my daughter also proudly wears your Adeline socks . Thank you for your inspiration. Carol
3 pair for me, Hidden Gem -but only because of the owl stitch markers and I would buy the other, Seascape, because both are just so beautiful – the stitch markers are the only way I could make a decision.
I think I have made 11 pairs of basic sockalong socks since may 2019 my aim is to knit a pair a month
I'm on my 3rd(pair for my cousin , they were going to be for my uncle but he died from cancer before they were finished
I am knitting my 12th pair, I recently referred someone to your blog, they wanted to knit their 1st pair, can't think of a better place to start. I would love to win seascape gift set. Thank you and happy sock birthday.
I’ve finished 2 pairs this year so far, so 5 since 2019. I love the look of the seascapes colour way, so bright and cheery, makes me long to see the sea again. Thanks for such a lovely giveaway. Karen🧶💐🧶💐
Hi Christine, I have knitted 1 pair with a contrast heel, it was a gift set at Christmas from woolwarehouse. Thank you for this very generous giveaway. My yarn choice would be seascape. we all love a bit of the seaside don't we?
Keep posting, your blog is a happy place. Thank you and God Bless, Claire xxx
Happy Birthday!
I have only ever knitting 1 pair of socks – but your pattern is the thing that got me over my fear so thank you!
Happy Birthday! I’ve made 6 pairs this year! I would never have dreamed I could make a sock but with a great pattern and loads of people who are willing to help, I can. I would love to squish some wys I live in the USA and no local yarn shops with 100 miles just big box limited options.
Happy 5th Birthday Sockalong! I have just this morning cast on pair number 5 – a DK boot sock. This is the first DK sock I have knitted and my goodness don't they knit up quick! This past year I have been a little more adventurous with my socks, my favourite being your ryegrass pattern. I'd normally knit more but who knew babies take up all your time…
If I was fortunate to win, I'd love either colour way. Both are beautiful. Once again, happy blog birthday Christine x
I’ve made two pairs, and love Seascape! Thank you for all you do and for so generously sharing your talents!
I have made 3 pairs which included my first actual pair, paradise rum, sherbet fizz both ways and another make that's rise ink with glitter in. So proud of myself and eager to try different patterns. Your instructions are so beautifully clear.
If I'm lucky enough to be chosen I would love the seascape yarn very much but both are gorgeous. Thank you for giving us all so much of your time, very much appreciated, you always have positive words to say on everyone's progress 💗🧦
I've finished my first a week ago and already onto my second pair. I think I'm addicted xx
6 pairs at present of basic but done some of your other patterns too. If I won hidden gem would make my day x
Is it your birthday today, 5th May? Mines tomorrow, but I am a little older….only by about 61 years. That’s not much is it. I have made three pairs of socks, of your patterns, since may 2019. If I was lucky enough to win, I would like the purple colour way please. Happy Birthday xxx
I made my first ever pair of socks this year with the basic sockalong tutorial – it was also my first ever time knitting anything in the round and was so easy on a long circular needle. They are keeping my feet toasty today under my work-from-home desk in the chilly spare room. Seascape for me please! Sandi W, from Scotland
Happy Sockalong BirthDay on MY Birthy BirthDay! Yay! I started knitting a pair recently (have made others in the past but since May 2019, just this one pair I am working on.) I would rather not choose yarny color and have it be a surprise, as I love either/both! Stay safe, stay well everyone! Happy DAY!and Happy knitting, too!
I have made 4 pairs. 2 for me, one for my husband and one with a matching hat for my baby great niece. I would like Hidden Gem. It reminds me of Blue John found in the Derbyshire Peak District where I live
Love your reading Christine This Golden Fleece was the last book I borrowed from the library before lockdown
Happy 5th Birthday. I love your sock pattern and the Facebook Winwick groups. Sadly I’ve only made two pairs this year as there’s so much else to make!! Thank you for bringing the joy of sick making to so many of us. If I’m lucky enough to win I would choose Seascape please. Thank you 😊
Hello Christine 🙂
I started knitting socks last July and so far I have knitted 13 pairs.
I like the seascape yarn. Thank you.
I've just got some mini Chiagoo circulars in 2.5mm and about to cast on my first pair. I'd love to try the seascape yarn. Happy 5th Birthday from Joy Neave
Wow, this blog post made me super happy. I’m going to be casting on my very first pair of socks soon and I’m using a whole bunch of mini skeins of sock yarn so they might look a bit crazy in the end but I’ve looked over your basic sock pattern so many times and I’m so thankful to have found your blog. Can’t wait to get these socks on my needles.
I’ve just finished my first pair! I’m itching to get started on the second pair, and the Seascape yarn would be the perfect colour!
Happy, happy birthday! Sadly, only 2 pairs of sockalong socks made this year, but have knitted other patterns too. If I was lucky enough to win the giveaway (again!), either colour would be lovely.I'm hard pressed to choose a favourite. Thank you for your generosity. Stay safe. xx
Happy 5th Birthday. I learnt to knit socks from your online instructions and my husband and I now have a few pairs. I have to confess I have only knitted one pair since 2019!!!. The purple colour wool looks good – not tried purple socks yet. Thank you for giving up your time to write this this blog.
Happy Sock Birthday! I've made 3 pairs this year and have just passed the sock making bug along to my mum!
Happy 5th birthday. I love your blog and sock patterns. I have knit 3 pairs of basic sockalongs since May last year. If I won I would like Hidden Gem as I love the story behind it (amethyst is one of my favourite stones) thank you, Michelle J from South Wales.
Oh, thinking about this made me realise how many pairs I've given as gifts in the last year. I've made 4 pairs of the original pattern and have started branching out into more complex patterns now 😊 I'd love the seascape yearn if I won.
Happy birthday Sockalong! I have made 3 pairs since January this year and you have no idea how much this has helped me! I love love love all the coloured yarns x
Happy 5th birthday!
I've followed you for years but haven't knit a single sock! If I win, I'd love the cute little owl markers and the purple yarn, and I will make some socks! 🙂 This is truly an amazing community that you've formed, Christine! Wishing you many more happy years ahead!
Hi, Heather D from Oxfordshire! Congratulations on your 5th Birthday. What an amazing help you've been to so many. You've given me the confidence to tackle socks at last- I'm now on my second pair with a small pile of sock yarn still to knit up. Well not that small really…I would love a ball of Seascape if I'm lucky. Thank you.
Happy Birthday Sockalong! You have added so much to my life 🙂 Until you I never had any success with my sock knitting! In the past year I have knitted 47 pairs of your socks and all but 3 were gifts 🙂 I love the Hidden Gem yarn. Here's wishing and hoping that we'll celebrate again next year!
Happy Birthday and congratulations on the well deserved awards. At least four pairs since May 2019, two using signature wool and two using merino/nylon mix from Ducky Darlings. So I am now needing to buy more wool. My small stash has gone.
I want to congratulate you on 5 years. I shall be forever indebted to you as knitting socks has got me through some bereavements quite recently and has helped me relax since being diagnosed with a heart condition. So thank you Christine for your inspiration and the friendships made through the groups. Here’s to the next 5 years x
Happy 5th Birthday and a massive thank you to you Christine for giving me the confidence to start my sock journey, after a life time of wanting to try, this year and Winwick Mum sock along I’m on my way, I’ve only managed 3 pairs that were good enough to give as gifts, but my total is 8, 5 for me. Thanks also to Janice who was great at answering silly questions, miss her ❤️
Seascape is a brilliant colour
5 years! Amazing!
The only socks I have knitted are yours, well that's ni
It true my first pair many years ago were a Paton"s pattern and it was so hard.
Sock count in the last year is 7, many of which were gifts. I love my hand knitted socks and love spreading the joy of owning a pair, thank you Christine for all that you have given to so many.
I think the seascape shade is amazing, the colours are unlike any yarn we have available here.
Happy Birthday! 🎉
xxBrenda
I started knitting socks following your basic pattern in January 2020 after my sister had a pair made for me at Christmas. I have knitted five pairs and have another three pairs on the needles. It has re-introduced me to knitting which I am finding relaxing in these troubled times. Thank you
None yet, but I've made several pairs of your sanctuary socks!
Happy 5th Birthday Sockalong
Good luck to all … please don't enter me Christine, I have your book and some of your lovely wool too.
Take care,, stay safe
Hi Christine – Happy Birthday … woo, woo!!! I've just had a quick flip through my notebook and it looks like I've made 15 pairs since May 2019!! Who knew??? Much love. xx
Happy 5th birthday, Sockalong! I never thought I'd be able to knit anything as complicated as socks but thanks to you, they're my favourite thing to knit. Somehow I've only made three pairs this year – Hidden Gem yarn would make a perfect fourth set!
35 pairs so far, so 70 socks! I'd like to try your Thoughtful Cowl next, for a change. I love both colourways.
I've not made any Sockalong socks this year, although I have directed lots of people to the pattern when they want to start making socks!
If i'm lucky enough to be picked, my preference is for the seascape, although I'd love either!
I just made my 10th pair! It would have been a lot more but I just recovered from a long illness which almost killed me 4 times in the last year! Not looking for sympathy, I just am glad I’m able to finally knit socks again,
Happy birthday, and thank you for your wonderful pattern! It’s the only one I use!
I’ve made two and a half pairs since I found you earlier this year. Thank you so much! (I’ve got a skein of Seascape in my stash, so I would love the Hidden Gem. I would use it to make a pair for my DIL who loves purple. Happy Birthday!
By the way…I love all of your colors so choose for me if I’m lucky🥴
Happy 5th birthday Sockalong. I had to go on the Facebook site to search but I think I've made 9 pairs of the basic sock this year. I have Lucy at Attic 24 to thank for finding you. Thanks Christine.
Happy 5th Sockalong Birthday. 3rd pair on needles, 2 completed since last May. My preference would be seascape thankyou, although both beautiful
Sally
Happy 5th birthday!
I have knitted 2 pairs of socks and I'm half way through my 3rd.
I'd be delighted with the seascape yarn.
May I please just mention how much I love your book? Even when I have to do some grafting I refer to your book xx
Congratulations on 5 years of Sockalong! Knitting your socks has been a huge part of my rehabilitation of my right arm and hand, crippled by Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Thank you, Christine, from the bottom of my heart.
I have knitted 7 pairs of Winwick Mum socks from the blog, since May of 2019. (I have been knitting for 2 months longer than that.
If chosen, I would’ve so honored to have any present, but my eye was drawn to Hidden Gem yarn especially. Thank you for this opportunity!
Happy Birthday and a big thank you for being the only sock tutorial I ever understood…you got me on the sock knitting journey. Am on my 3rd pair currently. The Seascape colourway looks lovely!
Happy 5th birthday! I.learnt to sockalong about two years ago to help me through some tough times. Now I'm a complete addict. Since last May I've knitted about 17 pairs of the basic pattern. it may be a couple more but I'm away from my sock collection during lockdown. I would love either yarn, but seascape is my absolute favourite..Wendy Powell
Happy birthday Sockalong. I have made 2 pairs this year with a third on the needles. I love the Hidden Gem colour. I live in Australia.
Happy Birthday! I love the Seascape yarn! Starting #2.
I have knitted 3 pairs.
Happy birthday! I only started sock knitting last autumn but completed 3 pairs of basic pattern for Christmas gifts then 2 more since (including 1 for me) so that’s a total of 5!
I have since completed a pair of Sanctuary socks, adapted a patten to make a pair of welly boot socks for my small grandson and am going to try a lace pair next.
I think I’m getting addicted but still find time for other projects as well as work and other hobbies!
I was so busy counting how many pairs of socks I’d knitted I forgot to say I’d prefer Hidden Gem please!
Thanks 😊
Happy 5th birthday Sockalong
I've knitted 10 pairs of socks (amongst other projects) and if I win would love the seascape colourway. Thank you Jenny Fuller
I've just finished my very first sock, so half way to a pair! Seascape please. Happy birthday sockalong
Hi, Congratulations, I have made 7 pairs and one threesome (my daughter asked me to make some socks in graduated yarn that had a very long colour change and wanted all the colour combinations for her socks so I made three socks so she could interchange the colours). I would be happy with either of the colours in the giveaway.
Happy5th birthday dear Sockalong. I have knitted 10 pr socks using Winwick mums pattern. I was a little late getting started on the Sanctuary Sock pattern so Nola, Debbie and i decided we would have a belated Winwick Wick Mum KAL. we have all finished our socks and love them. 🌺
Happy birthday Sockalong! Christine, I'm so glad that you started it. The 2 Facebook groups are even more of a gift at this time ❤
I am at the heel flap of my first sock, it's been in the naughty corner until I can face putting in a lifeline and frogging the heel flap and about half the leg as I have made some mistakes.
I would love a ball of Seascape please.
Wendy, Somerset, England.
Happy birthday. I’ve made 14 pairs in the last year, all thanks to you. I would like hidden gem please. Sandrina M.
Happy 5th birthday. I'm onto my second pair and love your tutorials. I'd like to try seascape please
Happy Birthday Sockalong! Congratulations and well done, Christine. I’ve steered several people toward your blog this year, but I’ve been a total slug when it comes to knitting for myself. Only one pair since last year! But I have some lovely purple WYS yarn (Hidden Gem) just waiting for the next time the knitting muse strikes.
Happy 5th Birthday Sockalong! Lovely giveaway. Sock knitter here, but only one sock pair knitted with your pattern since last May. Need to get knitting! Seascape would be my choice. Thank-you for a chance. LynnIL
Happy birthday Sockalong! I have made my first pair of socks. Thank you for sharing. I would like to have hidden gem. Stay safe
Nearly finished pair 3, with 4,5, and 6 on needles… 😀 Thank you, Christine, for making me a sock knitter!
I’ve knitted 2 pairs of socks. I love your tutorials and rely heavily on them. The Hidden Gem…oh that glorious purple..calls to me. Also receiving a signed copy of your book and those adorable owl stitch markers would be the icing on the cake. Thank you for doing this giveaway.
I have a sock along on the needles now. I spiraled the cuff then knitted vanilla for the rest. The yarn is a hand dye that my hubby gave me for my birthday. On the skein it was wildly crazy neon looking. But once knitted it toned down. I love it! I had forgotten to turn the heel on the first sock–so embarrassing. But I fixed it and have carried on to the second sock.
Happy Winwick Mum birthday Christine! I've knitted 1 and then discovered your other patterns…. so addictive. Seascape is pretty. Sharon
I keep loosing my post Lol Hee hee Let’s try again
Happy 5 Years Birthday Congratulations Christine in bringing this wonderful community together
I think after a difficult year (tennis elbow) I’ve made 7 or 8 pairs all gifts & mostly unsuspecting 🙂 another pair on the needles now for gifting The basic pattern is always my go to & imprinted on me If I were lucky enough to win I’d love Seascape although they’re all beautiful x
Happy birthday! I still have yet to make one sock. The but if I get one of these I will certainty give it a go!
Happy 5th Birthday!! I'm a newbie and am just casting on my first pair! Hopefully by the next Sockalong, I will have made a few more pairs. The purple is beautiful but either would be fine. Thank you for all of the patterns and information and of course, your generosity. I have learned so much already!
Hi Christine – Congratulations on Sockalong's 5th birthday, long may it continue!! I believe I have made 6 pairs of basic socks this past year, but what I really wanted to say is that in the past few weeks I have turned to the tutorials because i needed to tailor make a bigger pair for a relative's arthritic feet. Such a revelation! I've lost count of the number of socks I've made, but never realised that when I divide for the heel I'm using half of my stitches; nor did I realise that my stitches must be divisable by 4 (my fingers cast on 60 stitches while my mind goes elsewhere), nor that I can increase the number of stitches for the instep. Now, I realise that every sock knitter is rolling their eyes and muttering Duh!, but honestly, this knowledge has made me so happy. I feel as though I have graduated a level in sock making. I'm even considering abandoning my dpns and trying out a small a circular needle – brave me!! Thank you, Christine.
I don't know whether the first comment published so I am going to try again
I have knit 10 pairs for Christmas presents & new granddaughter, only socks she keeps on her feet lol. Have been drooling over your beautiful yarns, & you explain how to do the different ways to cast on, I finally learned how to magic loop from you, socks knit up so much faster now.
Happy birthday, God bless you and your family in these trying times.
Jennifer from Oklahoma
Happy wonderful birthday. What a great feeling I’ll bet. I have now made two pairs of your socks and looking forward to making more. I fancy trying out the Hidden Gem colourway as I have already used the Seascape one for a pair I made for a good friend. She loves them. Hope you have a wonderful day and keep up the great blogs. Always good to catch up x Take care, Miriam (Midge).
Hi Christine,
Happy 5th birthday, who would have thought !! I've been here from the start with the sockalong. I have my eye on your cowl pattern next, it looks lovely and something for me to do in lockdown. Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
Congratulations from Tipperary Mary Murphy,( there is another Mary Murphy) we are everywhere !!!!
Forgot to mention on my 6th pair of socks.xx
Happy birthday!
I have just finished my 3rd pair of socks. I find them so therapeutic to make. They really help my anxiety levels to come down. If I was lucky enough to win, I would be happy with either yarn as they are both beautiful x
Great stuff, 5th year sockalong. I have made 2 pairs using sockalong tutorials since lockdown this year!
Love the wools and cute markers.
Happy Birthday! Just about to start my third pair. I expect to be making more over the autumn. Carmel T
Congratulations on 5 years of Sockalong. One of my lockdown challenges is to learn to knit socks. I have your book and am about to cast on my first pair. I would like Seascape please.
Happy Birthday! I have made 2 pairs since last year and being introduced to your sock along – your instructions are so clear and easy to follow although I'm still battling with using stitch markers!! I love the Seascape colour. Helen M
Happy Birthday !
I am on my 7th pair of socks, and would love to knit my next pair with the Seascape colour way please Christine.
Thanks for a great group x
Congratulations Christine! Well you changed my life when I learnt to make your basic sock pattern! I have made so many over the years but I’ve made 16 pairs using your patterns this year and the last completed pattern of yours I finished are the Aleline socks! I would love the chance to win and I would choose Hidden Gem purely because I have used up that colourway at the moment! I have used all yours and love them all! Thank you Christine x
Happy 5th Birthday Christine, I’ve been with you from the start!! I haven’t made as many socks this year….about 20 pairs I think. I’d love Seascape and Llamas if I win!! Please stay safe and take care, love Lissie W.
No socks yet! Learning to knit socks is on my 'to do' list, and when I do I'll definitely be following the sockalong! Congratulations on 5 years.
I have made 8 pairs and I really love the Seascape colourway. Congratulations on your 5th birthday, I really enjoy your blog.
Happy Birthday – Sockalong and Knit and Knatter have been a constant source of cheeriness in my life – and particulalry over the past year!! Thank you for the photographs, the enthusiasm and the inspiration!! I am not sure how many pairs I have knitted since May 2019 – but since October 2019 I have knitted at least one pair a week (keeping myself busy while my sister has been so ill!). I have today (6th May 2020 finished knitting my sock yarn stash that was many, many years old and was full of happy memories of many lovely UK holidays!!) Sock yarn stripy jumper coming up!
I have only made 4 pairs this last year but 2 were for my husband. They were the first ones I'd knit for him. He really likes them and wears them as much as he can so I might knit him more this year!
Love your blog, it's always very relevant and interesting.
1 pair, lost my sock mojo for a while, but just started another pair. Hidden Gem is my choice.
What five years I can't believe it! Congratulations and you have achieved so much since then you can be so proud, I have made countless pairs of socks thanks to you since then and have gifted many all received with great pleasure, but this past year my sock making count has been 0, I made myself take a break because as you know knitting socks is addictive and nothing else was getting done, my hands have been itching to start up again my poor needles are twitching in anticipation and the sock yarn I have lined up is screaming at me haha Good luck for the next five years! Stay safe. xx
Congratulations Christine, on the fifth birthday of your Sockalong. I've been with you almost from the start. I bought the e-book version of Super Socks, it has been on my e-reader ever since. Your sockalong has finally made me a sock knitter. I've knitted 5 pairr of socks last year. All on feet of beloved ones :).
I love the Seascape colourway and the lama stitch markers.
All the best to you and your family. Stay save!
Happy birthday for yesterday, wonderful Sockalong! I am currently knitting the second sock of my first pair and I have loved the learning process. So grateful to you, Christine! I love seascape and the owls ❤️
7 pairs since last May! I love the Hidden Gem colourway! – Isabel
I'm a beginner. I have mastered crocheting during this lock down and I'm now going to learn to knit socks. I was inspired by your blog and by seeing lots of gorgeous photos. I have bought needles to cover all eventualities and several balls of lovely WYS wool. I love all the colourways, including the two above. I've printed out all your basic socks information. I'm good to go…
Happy, happy birthday! I found your blog when I saw your pattern for the “thoughtful cowl”. It is on my needles now. Beautiful pattern!! I now am knitting socks and am obsessed ……so far 4 pairs, with two more on needles. If fortunate, I love the Seascape colourways.
Many thanks and again happy birthday.
Patsy D.
Happy birthday!! I have been knitting socks for awhile now & really appreciate your detailed patterns. I finally learned how to do magic loop with your pics & detailed instructions. I knit 10 pairs of socks for Christmas last year & am starting again for this year. Again Happy birthday & take care of yourself & family during this stressful time
Jennifer from Oklahoma.
I have knitted 2 pairs of socks since May 2019 with the help of your clear basic sockalong pattern/tutorial. If I am lucky enough to be a winner, I would prefer the Seascape yarn. Elizabeth Brown
1/2 a pair, but I, almost there finishing my first pair!
4 pair for me this year
Happy Birthday! I have knit 5 pairs of socks and would love the Hidden Gem prize package. Thank you for this group💕
Happy 5th birthday!
I've knitted one pair using the original sockalong pattern. I've been starting to try some other patterns, although my approach tends to be to work out the stitch pattern for the leg and then merge it into the sockalong pattern for the heel flap/gusset/toes because I know that works!
I would prefer the seascape yarn.
Heather M
Congratulations!!! Amazing giveaway!!! I would love Seaside and lamas. Never made a pair, always too scare to start so this would be perfect chance.
I'm about to cast on for my first pair! Funny that I'm just a few years too late for the original sockalong! So excited to wear my new socks I have already ordered a pair of new boots to go with them hahaha. If I were to win, I would love the Seascape yarn. Happy birthday!
I am three quarters of the way through my first sock – thank you for making it so simple. Never thought I would master socks! My daughter has made three pairs following your instructions – one pair of which has now found it's way up to my grandson in Scotland! I love Hidden Gem! Stay safe! Margaret Jeffrey
Happy lockdown birthday!! I've almost finished the 4th pair – one 'fairy lights for me at Christmas, 2 pairs as gifts, and now a lockdowm pair for myself. I'd love the Seascape please.
I started my first pair last October and the current count is 2 and a half pairs!! One still doesn't have his mate! I'll go back to it.
The hidden gem yarn is gorgeous! It would be lovely to win some. But if not I'll have to seek it out somewhere.
Happy Birthday!!!
I am rather new to this post, so I have not started the sock-along. I am anxious to start my first pair. I have made socks in the past and they are fun because they are easy to "take along." Love your posts and your cozy places to knit. I live in North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA. I am amazed that 12,000 pairs of socks have been knitted in a year! I hope to add to that total. My preference is Hidden Gem. Thank you for the weekly post and for doing this.
Hi Christine, Thanks to you I have learnt to knit socks this year. The first pair was best appreciated without glasses on!! I am getting better and I'm now on my 5th pair. I have just bought your yarns and sock pattern collection to keep me busy over the New Zealand winter. I love both the yarns equally! In fact I had to buy them all as I couldn't decide. I really love your blog too. Happy Birthday!
Hi Christine,I love your writing, photos and your books, thank you. Since last May I made a pair of socks while in Australia, when I got back 5 pairs and onto my 6th pair now. So almost 7 pairs. The owls are lovely they are my favourite . Take care.xxx
I’ve got the book, got the yarn ( got a bit carried away tbh) and bought them needles.. now to brace myself and start my first ever pair of socks.. loving the seascape yarn Carolyn x
Hello from Bonnie Scotland. Happy Birthday 🎂 I "found" you at the beginning of lockdown, ordered your yarn and printed the pattern, just need to get started. A wee bit daunting but looking forward to "producing" my first ever pair of socks. Thank you for a lovely giveaway, any colour would be lovely to win. Thank you 😊 Stay safe and well ☺
Hi! I am currently working on my fourth pair and I am becoming quite addicted. I love both colourways of yarn so don't have a preference. Thank you for your uplifting blog and your work over the festive period. I really appreciate it. Hope you are well. Nicola Borras
What an amazing journey your sockalong has taken you on, wonderful news and Happy Birthday. I've been lurking for the last 6 months trying to get up the courage to knit socks as I mainly crochet and have now started weaving and spinning. But I knitted a hat for my dad at christmas and I am just finishing some knitted cacti for a friend determined to get the hang of knitting in the round. I feel a pair of socks may be in the offing soon and if I won your competition it may just nudge me there quicker. Seascape and Llamas would be wonderful. Here's to the next five years x Lisa
Happy Birthday Christine! One year ago, I was a sock-making virgin. I came across your sockalong pattern and used it, plus your brilliant tutorials, to complete my first pair in May 2019. I've not looked back since then and in the one year since I have made 14 pairs of socks to the sockalong pattern, using mainly 4 ply but have also done some of your 8 ply boot socks that are much appreciated by my other half. Thank you for the careful guidance. I could never have imagined myself knitting socks when I came back to knitting about 18 months ago. I like to think that my Mum, who was a knitter, would have been proud of me. If I were to win (and I never do!!) I would be happy, grateful, and astounded, to receive whichever colourway you had left.
I didn't realise I was posting as anon and so didn't leave my name. Oops,
Angela K
Only one pair in the last year ☹
Hi Christine,
I've managed two pairs this year – the first pair for hubby plus an early Christmas pressie done since the start of lockdown – and have just cast on a third pair, but that's since the start of May … planning to order some of your wool or for the next ones. Simply love all my hand knnit socks and still haven't ventured away from your pattern . Happy Birthday. Fil
I am going to begin my very first pair 😊
Happy birthday! It's wonderful to see how many people are inspired by you to have a go at sock knitting, so a huge congratulations to you, Christine. I've made 6 plain pairs this year – and trying to use lockdown to get ahead with potential Christmas presents…. About to start my first attempt at the easy lace design (Hidden Gem would be lovely!) All good wishes, Helen Tawn
Hello from Minnesota in the US! I just found you last week and am excited to begin my first pair of top down socks. The heel flaps have always intimidated me. Happy birthday and congratulations!
Since May 2019 I have made 11 pairs of Winwick Mum Socks and I have already cast on and worked 1/2 of my 12th pair. I am @Elliementalist on Instagram. 🙂 Very Happy Birthday to the Winwick Mum sock-along. Without you i'd probably not be knitting socks. 😀
I would like to make my first pair when I win one of your presents!
I follow your blog from Belgium and get inspired by your posts!
If I can choose I would love to make a pair with the Seascape Yarn but the Hidden Gem colour is also very nice! Happy birthday and please continue to lighten up our days with your positivity! Peggy Smet / email : [email protected]
Greetings from Canada. I completed my first pair of socks about a month ago and I expect to finish my second pair within a week. Thank you for your pattern and your blog. If I am lucky enough to win, I would love the Seascape yarn and the llamas. I am currently using scraps of yarn as stitch markers.
I have just finished my first sock using this pattern – I've knitted socks before but this pattern gives such clear instructions that I've found it much easier! I would love the Seascape yarn. Thank you!
I've just finished my first ever pair of socks! I had the wool and needles when lockdown arrived – very glad a friend pointed me in the direction of your sockalong posts when I was looking for a pattern 🙂 I have two daughters also keen to learn how to knit a pair now – "if mum can do it, how hard can it be??" (The credit goes to your brilliant pattern!) I would like the Seascape yarn if I won. Thank you 🙂
hello, and Happy Birthday! I just signed on because your site has been recommended – want to start my FIRST pair of Sockalong socks. I'd love to enter your contest, and hope for the hidden gems yarn.
thanks, and I hope to have many pairs to add to the list for next year's birthday. Janice Andrews
Lovely blog. I have knit 4 pairs of socks and just starting a patterned pair. I would love the hidden gem colour way.
I started knitting socks from your pattern about six months ago . I now addicted and have just cast on my 8th pair. Thanks so much for the pattern. Both of the yarns are ace so I would love either
I heard about you and the socks from Black Sheep Wool and decided to try to knit some socks because the yarns are so pretty. I finished my first pair of socks – in Seascape – on 29 May 2019 so I've been knitting socks for about 12 months, and during that time I've completed 12 pairs (actually a few more but some had to be frogged because the measurements I was given weren't correct!). I'm knitting summer socks for myself at present but I've recently bought some thick wool to make some boot socks for my new ankle wellies and I'll be using your pattern again. Thank you very much for all your patterns and your websites and Happy Birthday! If I were to win I'd like the Hidden Gems colourway. Marilyn Sackman
I have managed to knit another six pairs of socks since May last year. May is also my birthday month and my favourite time of year. Nature is alive
and fresh. I love the seascape colour as I live by the sea. Happy birthday
Winwick mum sockalong. Cath B
Thank you for the Birthday give away! I have knitted 2 pairs as gifts for the needy. I would enjoy the Hidden Gem prize.
Sorry I forgot to say which yarn I would like. That would be Hidden Gems thanks again for 5 great years of instructions & sharing your adventures with all of us
Jennifer from Oklahoma
One pair for me plus almost finished another pair 🙂
Happy 5th Birthday!
Erica Till
Happy birthday, and thank you for such an easy to follow pattern. I've made 5 pairs this year (including my new favourite Brightside socks) x If I'm lucky, I would love a ball of Hidden Gem x Kath H
Congrats on the anniversary, Christine. I've following your blog and enjoying it very much for several years. I have the basic sock pattern saved on my computer and do plan on making it. I've only made one pair of socks over the years and one sock each of two other pairs. (Second sock syndrome, eh?) They're all toe up, so it's probably time to learn how to do a cuff down. Thanks for the giveaway, my preference is for the Seascape.
Happy birthday Sockalong! I've used the basic pattern at least 7 times and used the confidence from it to do many other patterns. It's where I send anyone interested in knitting socks. I like Seascape but as all my clothes are blue/green, I'd be happy being forced to branch out with Hidden Gem. Well done Christine! From Sarah in NZ.
Happy sock birthday! I was introduced to the sockalong by my (grown up) daughter just over 3 years ago, and became addicted! I've knitted about 18 pairs. Some to give away, and 2 pairs accidentally washed on the wrong cycle! I don't mind which colour yarn (if I should win), but I love the alpacas!!
I am halfway through my first sock. It is very red and will hopefully grow up to become a pair of Christmas socks 🙂
I have knitted lots of socks including one pair from your pattern. I love it that your pattern is free as I think one of the best things about crafting is sharing the joy. I have taught children of Primary School age to knit and my 21 year old daughter has leant to knit during lockdown. I belong to a craft group and regularly learn new things from ladies in their eighties. I love to make handmade gifts as it is a great way of making friends and family feel special. I like both colours of your yarn so really don’t mind.
Hello & Happy if belated 5TH Sockalong Birthday 🙂
I haven't attempted socks yet, just hats, gloves & mittens so if I'm lucky enough to be drawn I would like to have a go with the Hidden Gem option please.
With very many thanks, Lorna H
I missed the boat for the giveaway, but for your count: I made 3 pairs of basic socks since May 2019.
I'm onto my 6th pair! I'm not fussy about which yarn, because I have 4 kids and a husband who would happily give any home made socks a home
