More Super Socks – Yarndale collection pre-orders

Hello again!  Thank you so much for all your kind words on the blog and social media about yesterday’s post about More Super Socks – I was really quite nervous about showing the book to you after keeping it all a secret for such a long time!  Quite crazy, I know, but it’s a very strange feeling to know that you don’t have to be quiet about something any more and you can shout about it all you like! 🙂

Today is the day that the pre-orders open for collection at the Yarndale festival in Skipton at the end of September.  If you missed the tour of the book patterns so that you can see what’s inside the book, you can find that post here.

Is there a particular reason why I’m doing this?  Yes, there is.  There are a couple, in fact: firstly, I have no idea how many people will want a copy of this book and I don’t want anyone to be disappointed if they’ve travelled all the way to Yarndale only to find that I didn’t bring enough copies with me.  Secondly, if you’ve been to Yarndale before then you’ll know that the floors are uneven in places and all of the stands are in rows of animal pens.  The Knit n Natter lounge where I will be with Lucy of Attic24 again is right in the middle of the Auction Mart and I don’t want anyone to think that they have to rush to find me in case the book sells out; if you already have a copy reserved then I’ll keep it safe until you come to pick it up.

What does the book cost?  More Super Socks is £14.99

How does the pre-order work?  If you click on the button below, you’ll be able to order a copy of More Super Socks through PayPal in just the same way as for my other book.  If you’re on an iPhone or an iPad, you may find there is a problem with the PayPal screen (it’s a PayPal thing, apparently, there’s nothing I can do to fix this) so you can email me from the link in the left hand sidebar and I’ll send you a direct invoice which gets us around the problem.  I’ll put a copy aside for you and you can pick it up at any time over the Yarndale weekend.  You will need to bring your PayPal receipt to collect the book so keep it safe!

Pre-orders will be open from Saturday 1 September to Sunday 16 September and after that, you’ll be able to buy a copy at Yarndale.

PRE-ORDERS ARE NOW CLOSED

I’ve tried to think of all the questions that you might have about the book, but if there’s anything that I’ve not covered, do feel free to send me an email or leave a comment!

What if I don’t have a PayPal account?  That’s OK, you don’t have to have one to pay by PayPal, you can use a credit or debit card.

Can I have a look at the book before I buy it?  Yes of course.  There will be display copies for you to have a look through at Yarndale so you don’t have to pre-order now.  I’m afraid there are no refunds on pre-orders so if you’re not sure that you’d like the book it might be better to wait, but of course there is no guarantee that there will be copies left which is why I’m offering the pre-order copies.

What if I order a copy of the book and then can’t get to Yarndale?  Sometimes life takes over and our plans go awry; don’t worry if this happens as I will send you a refund after Yarndale and you can choose to re-order the book for delivery if you want to do so.

Can I order a copy of Super Socks to collect at Yarndale at the same time as the new book?  Yes, by all means.  Just drop me an email and we can sort that out.

I’m not coming to Yarndale.  Will More Super Socks be available through your blog?  Yes, it will.  Orders for signed copies for delivery will be open on my blog on 29 September, and I’ll be able to post them out once I’m home from Yarndale.  I’m happy to post worldwide.

Can I get a signed copy?  Yes, I will be more than happy to sign a copy for you at Yarndale and if you order one through the blog.

What about local yarn shops and book shops?  Your local yarn and book shops may have some copies after the launch date and you can always ask them about ordering one.  I am always happy to speak to local yarn shops and book shops about stocking copies of my books; if you’re a yarn shop or book shop owner, feel free to drop me an email!

Will More Super Socks be available on Amazon?  Yes, it will.  It will be in paperback and Kindle format and it should be available on Amazon from 29 September.  It should also be available in all the countries that have an Amazon site as it should go live at the same time.  I say “should” because I will put all the relevant information into the Amazon website for the book but after that it’s beyond my control and down to the Amazon processes to make sure it happens on time.

What about those of us who don’t want to buy through Amazon?  Don’t worry, not everybody likes to use that company so the book will be available through my blog, and also as a Nook and Kobo ebook.  It will also be available at some online stores and local yarn shops where they choose to stock it and you may be able to get it through your local book store as it has an ISBN number that they will be able to trace through their book-ordering system.

Will there be a Kindle version?  Yes, there will.  I’m working on it at the moment so that it should be live at the same time as the paperback version.  I’ll also upload it to Nook and Kobo so that anyone who uses those formats can have a copy too.

Can I pre-order through Amazon?  No, unfortunately not.  Amazon don’t make their pre-ordering service available to self-publishers so that’s not an option for me.

OK, I think that’s everything for now.  Do ask if you’ve got any more questions, and thanks for reading! xx

Hi Christine, I am making my first pair of your socks, but do not know what SSK is. Is there a link to abbreviations or can you tell me what it means.

Hi! If you scroll back up to the top of this page and click on the purple "Winwick Mum Sockalong" link, you'll find all the tutorials that go along with the sock pattern including photos that show you how to do an SSK decrease. It just means Slip, Slip, Knit and it's a way of making a left-leaning decrease so that it leans the right way on your sock. Hope that helps! xx

So looking forward to ordering a copy of your new book when it becomes available on Amazon. My copy of your original 'Super Socks' is much loved and has been well used. Even though I can't be at Yarndale, your new book is the next best thing!
